Roof and façade structure during renovation

Advice / Roofing

Have the roof checked before it starts leaking.

Visible wear, signs of moisture and problems at junctions or penetrations are reasons to assess the complete roof build-up.

Signs worth investigating

Damaged or displaced tiles, loose or leaking flashings, discolouration in the loft, musty odours and recurring ice formation can have different causes. These signs should be considered in the context of the whole roof.

  • Damage to or displacement of the roof covering
  • Vulnerable penetrations and flashings
  • Moisture marks or odour
  • Uneven areas in the roof surface
02

Look beneath the roof covering

Underlay, battens, ventilation and timber need to be assessed together with the covering. This determines whether a local repair is sufficient or a larger section needs replacing.

03

Have the roof assessed before the damage becomes urgent

A planned assessment gives more time for material choices, scope and coordination than emergency work after a leak.
